Wood in your own light
A timber sample may feel warm in a workshop and more restrained at home. Window orientation, wall colour and evening lighting all influence perception. When selecting a solid wood dining table, seeing the sample in its intended room gives you information that a screen photograph cannot fully provide.
Selection and placement notes
View the sample in the morning and evening beside flooring, curtains and upholstery. Surfaces do not all need identical tones. A slight difference between related colours can give a room depth. Record the proposed finish as well: unfinished timber and a completed surface can read differently under the same light.
