Assess the base and mattress together: a low-looking frame does not guarantee the same height once the mattress is installed.
In everyday use
Think about the lamp switch, phone and glass used each day. Moving the nightstand too far back makes reaching harder; pulling it too far forward can narrow the passage. Before finalising a bedroom layout, test both sitting in the bed and walking beside it.
